3 Sensory Friendly Holiday Shows This Month!

Greetings Friends and Neighbors and Lovers of the Holidays!

I’m excited to let you know about our three holiday shows this month.

New York! Philly! Chicago!

These holiday shows are memorable, festive, joyful, musical moments and they only happen in December.

It thrills me to be able to say that for the first time they’re Sensory Friendly.

I was exposed to the concept of Sensory Friendly through Barry Kornhauser at the Ware Center in Lancaster, PA and, in turn, the work of Betty Siegel at The Kennedy Center. I like to thank them every chance I get for turning me on to this beautiful inclusive concept, one that benefits everybody.

Here’s a brief description of Sensory Friendly that is widely used: Sensory-friendly performances are designed to create a performing arts experience that is welcoming to all families with children with autism or with other disabilities that create sensory sensitivities.

And here’s one that Claudia Eliaza created that really indicates the joy that I’ve always felt in a SF performance: Sensory Friendly shows create an accepting and comfortable environment for all children and their families. Much care and thoughtful consideration has gone into our planning and it’s our belief that this careful attention will support those with special needs as they connect to the music. There will be a manageable degree of stimuli within a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. All who attend are encouraged to express themselves freely and openly.

So if you’re a family with a kid(s) with special needs or a family with a neurotypical kid(s) this show is for you. The doors are open wide and everyone is invited!

In New York I’ll be with the full band DZAF, as always, and in Philadelphia and Chicago I’ll be singing with two amazing Haitian jazz vocalists Claudia Eliaza and Pauline Jean.

And we’ll be handing out songbooks!!

I’d like to also thank The City Winery NYC, The City Winery Chicago, and World Cafe Live in Philadelphia for agreeing with tremendous enthusiasm to make these performances Sensory Friendly.

On a side note:
If you are interested in having a SF event in your community, either a DZ and Friends full band show or DZ with Claudia Eliaza duo, please reply to this email and we’ll connect you to our agent.
